Kaya Alp

Kaya Alp was a bay of kayi tribe. He was born in 1140 Ad. According to Ottoman tradition, he was  the son of Kızıl Buğa and the father of Suleyman Shah. He was the grandfather of Ertugrul Ghazi, the father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire Sultan Osman Ghazi.

He was also famously known for being the successing name of Ertokus Bey’s son Kaya Alp. He was a descendant of the ancestor of his tribe, Kayı son of Gun son of Oghuz Khagan, the legendary progenitor of the Oghuz Turks. He ruled the tribe from 1200 to 1214 AD. Kaya Alp died in 1214 AD at the age of 74.
